It has its own school and three crosses that are decorated with greenery on 3 May. Below the district, among fields, tabaiba spurge and the red and black lava field of the 1646 flows, a track descends to El Puertito beach, with its lupin-drying yards and fishermen’s huts. The GR 130 passes through Las Caletas on its stage from Fuencaliente to Villa de Mazo, on its way to Tigalate and Montes de Luna, as does municipal Route 5, Los Canarios – El Puertito.
It is the least known face of the municipality, the one that looks towards the sunrise and the eastern coast, wilder and harder to reach, with Las Cabras beach and its aboriginal cup-mark station a few kilometres to the south.
